Japanese

Japanese gastronomy is obviously much more than the sushi-gyoza-ramen trio... but viewed through the lens of our little kingdom, it's not necessarily obvious (if you haven't had the chance to travel there).

Yoka Tomo is one of the missing pieces of this puzzle: the Izakaya. The Japanese equivalent of a bistro just the way we love it. A short menu of dishes to share and an omakase-style menu, decently priced and updated according to market availability. Simple and tasty dishes, a divine miso soup, white asparagus tempura that's crispy-melting like never before and... yes, I know... a few gyozas to finish (because it's good and we were seriously hungry that night 🤭). Well-chosen natural wines, beers and sakes round out this wonderful experience.

Chef Tomo works behind a kitchen counter where about ten guests take turns eating Midnight Canteen-style. Pretty tables and a private horigotatsu complete the place, filled just enough to vibrate with a joyful and lively atmosphere. Worth doing and worth repeating without hesitation... and without forgetting to book, it's essential.
