JapanesePeruvian

A lovely spot to try your hand at nikkei cuisine, that "fusion" cooking born from the migration movement when a major Japanese community came to settle in Peru at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Reading the menu, no doubt about it—we've got one foot in Japan and the other in the Andes.

The offerings from both sides are mouth-watering, but the real magic happens in the dishes where these two cultures meet harmoniously. Like with this Uzusukuri where tuna, avocado, white corn and ponzu come together beautifully, or with that magnificent paiche fillet (a gigantic fish endemic to the Amazon) marinated in miso & passion fruit and finished cooking right at your table on a barbecue.

The décor is tasteful, comfort is guaranteed, the service is friendly and polished, and the view over the Plaza de Armas is splendid. The wine list offers a couple of interesting Peruvian bottles but they're pricey... those who love cocktails (with or without alcohol) should definitely head to the bar, which has already made quite a name for itself in Cuzco.

Go for it without hesitation—just make sure to book ahead.
