Another lovely spot in the style I'm most drawn to, no doubt about it: cooking that strikes a balance between bistro and fine dining, simple but carefully sourced products, prices that won't break the bank, a relaxed vibe, wines with actual grapes in them but none of that fancy-pants nonsense… And this brand new place, opened barely two months ago, ticks every single box.
The menu is short: three starters, three mains, a cheese course and two desserts. We had an absolute blast with a pork breast dipped in a wonderfully flavorful and deep broth, raw amberjack served in an ajo blanco, a gorgeous piece of poultry standing in for a beef dish that was clearly the darling of everyone else's table, and a daring cheese plate made up entirely of blue cheeses!
The wine list might be a touch short, but we found exactly what we wanted without any trouble. The décor mixes exposed brick, loads of green, gingham tablecloths, a lovely Oblure pendant hanging over the bar and a few wall sconces by Verner Panton… Beautiful, simple and personal.
Since it's been getting a lot of buzz lately, booking ahead before you show up is definitely a smart move. As for us, we've already done it: we're heading back very soon!
