La Lucha Sangucheria Criolla

Yes! There are still cool local alternatives to fast-food chains out there.
In their famous "36 Hours in…" series, the New York Times wrote about them: "Vietnam has the banh mi, Italy has the panini and Peru has La Lucha Sangucheria." Maybe it's a bit over the top, but you have to admit the concept is so well-executed and the products so darn good that the franchises are popping up left and right.
Nearly 20 locations in South America… good for them but let's hope they keep things human-sized and don't lose their soul! We stopped by one evening when we were feeling lazy, wanting to treat ourselves without spending hours there.
And it was perfect. The recipes are flavorful and indulgent, with a very Limeño mix of tradition and modernity.
The service comes with smiles on their faces, the chicha morada and fresh fruit juices flow freely, everything is fresh and homemade, the vibe is cool and the storefront is tempting with its charming sixties diner vibes. Honestly?
We want more 😋😊
