Euro Pizza, Amsterdam

In the north district of Amsterdam, an old hangar painted white. A pizza oven planted right in the middle, a big counter and fifties furniture à la Friso Kramer, a wine cabinet that looks like it came straight out of an old Neapolitan restaurant and barely three or four things on the walls. The crowd is young, beautiful and loud. The menu: concise and slightly bewildering in the nature of what it's proposing. The idea is to share some really gorgeous pizzas preceded by well-thought-out plates that are totally current. You either choose or let yourself be guided by a hyper-efficient team that's managed to stay cool, not pretentious for a second. The wines are natural, obviously. Everything is really really good but you'll remember the "Halibut and raw mushrooms, pearl barley". So damn good it deserved an encore for dessert. A must-do (or do again) without hesitation if you're passing through.
