The perfect neighborhood bistro, the kind you hope to find in every city where you set down your bag. Perched on a corner, across from the market hall, with décor that looks like it's been the same for ages, a tiny pass overflowing with jars of homemade pickles, skittles scattered everywhere… impossible not to sense the promise of a great evening the moment you sit down.
In the evening, it's all about shared plates — even though, of course, nothing stops you from keeping them to yourself if you're not really into that. And these plates hit the mark every single time: a delicious pâté with the famous pickles, a black pudding and pear tart that's surprisingly subtle, a winning trio of leeks / peanuts / cauliflower, a sardine club sandwich that whisks you straight off to Marseille, and a more classic pork belly in its simplest form. You feast, without a single wrong note.
The whole thing beautifully accompanied by a divine chardonnay signed Stéphane Tissot, fished from an impeccable wine list.
You finish up with a seriously indulgent peanut butter–chocolate cookie… and a mille-feuille of caramelized apples. No fear!
A really lovely evening, in a really lovely spot, with a downright charming team.
At lunch, the concept is less about sharing and gives way to a more classic starter-main-dessert menu. Definitely worth doing, but don't forget to book.
