Tuba Club

Tuba is that devilishly Instagrammable Marseille restaurant everyone has been talking about for years. A few photos of the place are enough to make you desperately want to have dinner there.
Starting from Malmousque, it’s a short half-hour bike ride along the beautiful road leading towards the calanques, and there you are in Les Goudes, at this former diving club that was once also Jacques Mayol’s. The photos didn’t lie: the place is stunning.
Perched on the rocks, so close to the water that some of the tables were being splashed by the waves that evening. Magical.
You can eat right on the rocks, on the beautiful terraces shaded by canvas sails, or indoors when the weather decides to interfere. But wherever you sit, the view is breathtaking.
The menu gives pride of place — almost exclusively — to fish and other creatures from the sea.
A wonderful tarama and a sea bream crudo, beautifully paired with seasonal vegetables and anchovies, set the tone for this memorable evening.
Then come an arroz worthy of the best tables in Valencia and a whole turbot, carved tableside by a team that is as professional as it is friendly.
The wine list is absolutely insane, packed with great bottles, most of them natural wines.
The kind of place that leaves you with some seriously good memories. You, certainly. Your wallet, probably too. But the unusual charm of a place like this comes at a price — and you’ll happily forgive it.
