Habitat 67
Visited in September 2023
For once, we're going to talk architecture. I'd been dreaming about this moment for 7 years... the year of our last trip to Montreal when my attempt to visit this housing complex ended in spectacular failure, blocked by an efficient and incorruptible security guard.
Since then, an association has been organizing tours that I can't recommend enough if you're passing through. Not only is it a little architectural gem of incredible rarity and interest, but on top of that, the tours are led by passionate and fascinating people.
All of this while respecting the residents of the place... which objectively isn't too bad 😬. You wander through the complex, you take the corridors and walkways that connect the different shared spaces and, the highlight of the morning, you get the chance to access an apartment that's been completely restored in its original configuration.
Tours absolutely must be booked, about a month before the big day, on the association's website (https://www.habitat67.com).
